Lily-Lionel Wedding Photograph Deconstructed

I've taken Lily's and Lionel's wedding picture and given each of the 19 people a number, so that we can eventually figure out with some degree of certainty, who each person is.  I'll put this onto the "Meadows" page as well, so as time goes on and this posting is pushed way down the blog and infrequently viewed, we will easily be able to see the progress on the Meadows page.   Then, I will do the same thing with Stanley's wedding photograph later.

It's thought that these are all Meadows family members in this picture, and that Lionel Waller was estranged from his family for some unknown reason.  Once again, we wish that someone had written down all the stories that my maternal grandmother used to tell, because no one now knows any more about the history.    There is one sister of my grandfather still alive in England (Lily's & Lionel's youngest daughter|),so there is still a chance that we will find out a bit more.

Note:
In order to stop this post going on and on from the 'home' page, because it's very long, I have inserted a new trick: a "page break" and you must click on Read More (directly below) to see the rest of this posting.

Starting from the left:

No. 1.  A teen-aged sister.  Most likely candidates: Julia (about 19), Beatrice (about 17), Nell (about 16)

No. 2.   A brother?

No.3.  A younger brother, Charles perhaps, who would have been 20.  He was deaf/mute.

No.4  An older brother or brother-in-law?

No.5  Grandmother - quite possibly Sarah (Quinton) Meadows?
[Added April 19, 2014]  Yes, we think this is most likely Sarah Meadows.

No.6  A sister

No.7  An sister?
[Added April 19, 2014] Most likely "Auntie Beat", Beatrice Meadows.

No.8  The best man: Richard (Dick) Freeman, who married Ellen (Nell) Meadows.   Nell was only about 16 years old in 1904, so it is unlikely they were already married.   This couple were family favorites and were loved by all.  They did not have children.   And they were in London during the blitz and both suffered permanent hearing loss from the blast wave from an exploding bomb.

No.9   A sister
[Added April 19, 2014] Most likely, Jessie.

No.10  A sister

No.11 Lionel

No. 12. Frederick Martin Meadows

No. 13 Lily - This is such a distorted part of the original photograph that it makes her look quite horrible.  A modern bride would never let this go onto the internet.  Sorry, Lily.  It looks like her eyes are closed in a blink too.

No. 14   A sister
[Added April 19, 2014] Most likely Nell (Ellen).

No. 15  Another unfortunate victim of photographic decay.  A sister,

No. 16  Could this be Lionel's mother, Ann Morgan Waller?  I do not have a date of death for her yet, but she would have been about 63 in 1904.

No. 17  Walter was the youngest brother, but he would have been about 7, and this boy looks more like 3 or 4 to me.  Perhaps he was a nephew.

No.18      [Added April 19, 2014] Of course - this is most likely Lily's father, Frederick Martin Meadows.

No.19  One of Lily's older brothers: Harry, Frederick, or Albert?
